Prayer for wedding planning

How easy it is to get sucked into the details of wedding planning-budgets, flowers, cakes, colours...All these things are good, but one thing is even better for me as a follower of Christ.

As a follower of Christ, I feel convicted to slow down and take time to give everything to God in a way that I can remember. My guiding verse is from the Bible, the book of Proverbs, chapter 3 verses 5 and 6 which says (MSG translation):

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
   don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
   he's the one who will keep you on track.
Don't assume that you know it all.

There is a lot to trust God for. One example of an area to Trust God is in our proposed wedding date, which is sandwiched between the date of the Kenya Elections 2013 (March 2013) and the beginning of the Hague Trials for the Post-Election violence in 2008 (April 2013).
When SugarHoney suggested the date after taking time to reflect and pray, my first concern was whether the country would be stable enough to enable us to move forward with our plans. My fears were based on the violence witnessed during the last election season. His immediate response in his typical sunny self was, while he understood me and loved me for being honest, to gently tell me off for already assuming the worst by assuming the coming elections will be violent. On further reflection in turned out that the date will give us the motivation to pray for peaceful elections. It may sound selfish on one hand to pray for peaceful elections so as to have our wedding, but really doesn't everyone want peace so
