8000 dollar wedding, planned in 7 months

In exactly 7 months, there will be the sound of celebration.

This blog is not about my whole life-work, family, political views and the rest. It's somewhat of a memoir, chronicling a very specific part of my journey- planning a wedding in 7 months and aiming to spend IDEALLY a maximum of 8000 USD on everything other than the honeymoon. Why 8000? So as to have more money for the honeymoon and the marriage thereafter. The amount is one the one hand realistic depending on what you want whilst still being a challenge as a result of inflation in Nairobi.

So the challenge this blog will explore is the ability to spend 8000USD or less to create a meaningful, memorable wedding without losing sanity or savings. The only exception will be external factors that affect the wedding planning e.g. the Kenya elections and ICC cases which are scheduled to sandwich the proposed wedding date.

I will not walk alone in the decision making of the planning. My awesome fiance will have equal say and in the event that we cannot agree, if it's a simple question of preference, I will defer to him. It's his wedding too. My challenge is to collect the information and be persuasive to him...and I have my ways:-) Having said that, my fiance is a private man and I will therefore not publish our full discussions on this blog. I will keep it to what I am learning about the wedding landscape in Nairobi, the different options and any information that I have found useful that could potentially be useful to other (Nairobi)brides.

My other challenge is to post daily, first because 7 months is not even as much time as some other brides take; secondly to make the posts manageable sizes and third to ensure the blog is active and live.

My hope is that at the end of the 7 months, there will be celebrations of love and learning. Join me, let's learn together
