Having researched different venues here and here, it's time to begin narrowing down what we like viz-a-viz our budget. The wedding budget as per our budget breakdown for venues is 70,000 which should
include ceremony and reception, photo shoot and first night venues.
What do we want?
What do we want?
- To have the ceremony and reception on one site (garden wedding)
- venues that do NOT provide compulsory catering, as we figure we can find more reasonably priced options elsewhere
Based on my homework the options that can fit that are (in no
particular preferential order):
1.
Option (way below budget but in a less preferred
geographical area)
a.
Loreto Convent Valley Road: Kshs. 20,000
b.
Photo-shoot, first night: Serena
hotel:Kshs.25,000
c. Total Kshs.45,000
2.
Option (on budget but involves quite a travel between
both grounds meaning the possiblility of being caught up in traffic)
a.
Kenya high school grounds: Kshs. 35,000
b.
Windsor: Kshs. 35,000
c.
Total:Kshs.70,000
3.
Option (right on budget- but first night not the dream venue)
a.
Florienta: Kshs.50,000
b.
Photo shoot first night: Vesper gardens-Kshs
20,000
c.
Total Kshs. 70,000
4.
Option (right on budget, but KTTC has more than one wedding per day in the 3 fields)
a.
KTTC field:Kshs. 35,000
b.
Windsor: Kshs. 35,000
c.
Total Kshs. 70,000
5.
Option:

Florienta gardens: Kshs. 50,000
b.
Photo shoot: tayana- kshs. 12,000
c.
First night accommodation at Kshs. 8000
somewhere!
6.
Option (our dream option but it's above budget!)
a.
Grounds-Florienta: Kshs 50,000
b.
Windsor -first night and photo shoot: Kshs. 35,000
c. Total: Kshs. 85,000
UPDATE:
The search for a venue, being one of the first large to-dos has helped us to talk again about what we really want and is most meaningful. For example, SugarHoney has always wanted to have a wedding at windsor. I assumed guys do not have strong preferences about weddings:-) Between us he is the one who is more conscious about why, how and where we spend our money. So it was interesting this time around as having a windsor wedding would be too expensive. So the compromise would be to have a photo-shoot+first night at windsor, which combined with the other venue options+transport logistics we have thought hard through, was still going to be Kshs.15,000 above our budget. So we re-worked it and strictly committed to going with it as it is now in its updated form and find other places to cut costs on things that are not as a priority/sentimental to us. So based on our updated budget, dream option it is:-)
