The most important day of your life deserves the most important meal of the day. Kick-start your big day with a healthy, power-packed breakfast that'll leave you feeling energized and relaxed. We've searched high and low for a few light and tasty breakfast options that are perfect for brides... Bon appétit!

Light & Fruity

  • Plain Low-Fat Yogurt :: The live cultures found in yogurt help calm upset tummies! A bonus? The water content will help to keep your skin hydrated (YES!).
  • Granola :: Protein-packed, delicious granola perfectly compliments yogurt. It's non-perishable and bite-size... perfect to snack on all day!
  • Fruit :: Apples, bananas, blueberries and pears will give you an energy boost and leave you feeling fuller, longer. Extra, extra! Apples and pears are known to ease anxiety, while the vitamin C in blueberries helps to reduce stress.

Golden Eggs

  • Eggs :: Poached, scrambled, sunny side up, hard boiled... anyway you cook it, eggs are a quick and perfect protein option. It prevents you from being tired or sluggish; a must for a busy wedding day!
  • Whole-Wheat Toast :: Full of vitamin B, whole-wheat toast is a wholesome choice for your big day breakfast. The vitamin B will ease any anxiety while the carbs promote a pleasant mood.
  • Orange Juice :: Cool and refreshing, consider a glass of OJ to be the orange on top of your breakfast. Chock-full of vitamin C, this cup of sunshine will help reduce unwanted stress.

Local Style

  • Edamame :: Soy beans get an A for easiness! They're easy to make, easy to eat, and easily digestible! PLUS, they're a brain food - so you'll be alert all morning.
  • Papaya :: Not only is this tropical fruit easily digestible, it prevents nausea and is jam-packed with vitamins A and C. For a little extra zest, squeeze on some lemon or lime juice... mmm mmm good!
  • Lilikoi Jam :: Passionfruit is the perfect companion for your whole-wheat toast. The refreshing, zesty taste is amazing and awakens your senses. A plus? Lilikoi also has a calming effect!

Our Tips?

  • WATER :: Above all, drink tons of water. Hydrating yourself is KEY to fighting fatigue. Drink lots of water leading up to your wedding and especially the day of. If you can't manage to eat anything, just drink water! And don't forget to pack a bunch of straws for sipping your drinks that day without losing any lip gloss!
  • CHAMOMILE TEA :: Top off any of these breakfast menus with a soothing cup of tea. Chamomile tea is known for promoting relaxation... just what you need!
  • AVOID CERTAIN FOODS :: Avoid foods that can get stuck in your teeth. Food like strawberry seeds and nori (especially furikake) are famous for sticking around.
  • NON-PERISHABLABLES :: You're a busy little bee, so you may not get a chance to eat breakfast right away. Foods that won't spoil (like granola, energy bars and fruits) are a must-have for the wedding day. Keep these around to nosh on when you have down time.
  • WHO TO ASK? Parents of the bride or groom, Auntys that want a role the day of, or your Maid of Honor's trusty hubby are great people to appoint breakfast duty to. Breakfast should arrive 30 minutes before hair and makeup begins so everyone can start the day on a refreshing, healthy, delicious note.

Wedding day breakfast

copy pasted from you and your wedding

Breakfast is often called the most important meal of the day – and this is the most important day of your life, so make sure you stock up on the right stuff to see you through a very Big (and probably long) Day.
We asked five nutritionists to tell us their ideal wedding day breakfast:

Porridge power:
"Go for a bowl of porridge,” says dietitian Nathalie Jones, “because it’s low GI, giving you a slow release of energy right through the morning. Porridge will prevent your blood sugar from dropping too low without boating you.”
We love:Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Porridge Oats, Whole, Rolled, with some chopped banana or raisins on top.

Get fruity:
Nutritionist Juliette Kellowe is also a fan of oats. “Yoghurt, fruit and a handful of oats is a perfect Big Day breakfast, plus the fruit and yoghurt contain water which is important if you want your skin to stay looking hydrated.”
We love: Rachel’s Organic Greek Style Yoghurt with a swirl of honey
Dietitian Jacqui Lowdon agrees. “It’s going to be a long day and you’ll need to keep your energy levels up so go for a high-fibre breakfast cereal, with fruit. This will help to maintain an ideal blood sugar. Fruit will act as a natural sweetener, provide a longer lasting source of carbohydrate, more fibre and extra nutrients - much better than adding sugar.”
We love: chopped papaya and passion fruit sprinkled with pomegranate seeds

Think fibre!
“The last things you want on your wedding day are bloating and mood swings so you need a good breakfast with enough complex carbohydrates and protein to stabilise your blood sugar levels,” says Yvonne Bishop-Weston.  “Muesli with nuts, seeds and fresh berries gives you a good balance” For extra help, a cup of camomile tea will help keep you calm and chilled.”
We love: mixed strawberries and redcurrants with a sprinkling of mint (but avoid raspberries, this is not the day to be picking pips out of your teeth!)
Full of eggs:
Eggs are a good source of protein to keep you feeling full. “A good wedding day breakfast is two poached eggs on wholemeal toast with a grilled tomato,” says Dr Marilyn Glenville PhD, “with a cup of peppermint of camomile tea. This combination of a first class protein (egg) with an unrefined carbohydrate (wholemeal bread) will mean your blood sugar rises slowly and stays level for a good few hours, so you won’t feel lethargic, light headed or dizzy later on.  It will help keep your mood even, too, on what can be a stressful day.”
We love: scrambled eggs with a sliver of smoked salmon and a dollop of crème fraiche.
